PROVERBS 29: 18
“VISIONING OR VANISHING”
INTRODUCTION: This old proverb is as true this morning as it was when it was written many years ago to Israel. Our visions shape us. Our visions control us. Our visions are determining factors in who and what we become. Likewise, visions shape nations, movements, institutions, and the church of Jesus Christ. Unless a church has a shared vision, in due time, it will be forced to close its doors and cease to exist.
I. WE MUST CLAIM THE VISION.
A. Anyone can curse the darkness, but people of faith light candles to defy the darkness.
B. Our present vision is limited and needs extension.
II. WE MUST USE THE VISION, OR WE WILL LOSE THE VISION.
A. When it comes to evangelism, perhaps the Bo Jackson/Nike motto says it best: “Just Do It!”
B. If we don’t use our vision, our capacity will be weakened.
III. WE MUST ASK FOR POWER EQUAL TO OUR TASKS, NOT TASKS EQUAL TO OUR POWER.
A. In battle, the side that wins is the side that advances.
B. We have what the world needs – the good news of Jesus Christ.
C. It is good news only if they hear and accept it.
