  • “GOD'S WONDERFUL WORD”

II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20, 21 Introduction: It seems that we have gone beyond the need to prove or convince anyone that the Bible is divine in its origin instead of human. This fact is clear. But what good does it do to say that the Bible is God’s Book if it is used as nothing more than a centerpiece on a table, or a collector of dust? What should we do with God’s Wonderful Word? I suggest that we should: I. Know It – In our head. (INTELLECTUAL) a. II Timothy 2:15 II. Stow It – In our heart. (DEVOTIONAL) a. Psalm 119:9-11 III. Sow It – In the world. (INSTRUCTIONAL) a. Matthew 13:3-9 IV. Show It – In our life. (VOCATIONAL) a. Matthew 5:13-16

  • "RELIGION THAT TAKES THE ROOF OFF"

Mark 2:1-12 Introduction: This is one of the most intriguing stories found in the New Testament. The faith of this paralytic man and his four friends would simply not be discouraged or defeated. • “THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH” (Part 2)

JOHN 8:30-36 In last week’s message, we began our consideration of Jesus’ words recorded in John 8:32 “The Truth shall set you free.” Let’s complete the task of “unpacking” the truths about the Truth! 4. All truth flows from, resides in, and is forever connected to a single sinless source - the person of the Lord Jesus Christ! 5. Truth should never be conveniently, timidly, or fearfully muffled and concealed, but always consistently, boldly, and fearlessly declared and revealed. 6. We will not be silenced! “The truth shall make you free” Supplemental Scriptures: Isaiah 45:19 John 14:6 John 17:17 John 18:37-38 Ephesians 4:15 Ephesians 4:21 1 John 2:3-5 1 John 2:21-23

  • “THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH” (Part 1)

John 8:30-36 This portion of an oath taken in the courtroom prior to giving testimony in a trial is familiar to many, if not most, of us. An equally commonly quoted and misapplied phrase is a portion of John 8:32 that states: “The truth shall make you free.” As is always the case, a verse or passage of Scripture, to be correctly interpreted, understood, and applied, must be taken in the context in which it was originally written or spoken. Let’s properly “unpack” these words of Jesus: “The truth shall make you free.” Only knowledge of God's truth brings true freedom In an age of universal deception, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. Truth and love are inseparably linked for all of time and eternity. “The truth shall make you free” Supplemental Scriptures: Exodus 20:14 Leviticus 20:10 Deuteronomy 5:18 Matthew 1:1-2 Matthew 5:27-28 John 8:1-12 John 8:48-59 John 10:31-33

  • "PAGING FISHERS OF MEN"

Luke 5:1-11 In today’s passage we read how Jesus called some Galilean fishermen to follow Him and to be His disciples. He promised them that their “catch” would be to see lives changed by His miracle-working power just as they had witnessed. Jesus is still “paging” us this morning, calling us to be “fishermen of men”. Simon Peter’s experience teaches us certain truths about what kind of spiritual fishermen Jesus is paging. Jesus is looking for: I. THOSE WHO OBEY HIM EVEN WHEN THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND. (v 1 – 5) A. We must do what Jesus commands, even if it looks impossible. B. Isaiah 55:8-9 II. THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM WHEN THEY REALIZE WHO HE IS. (v 6 – 10) A. Peter realized Jesus was a teacher (v. 5) B. Peter realized Jesus was the Lord God (v. 8) III. THOSE WHO FOLLOW HIM WHEN HE CALLS (v 11) A. Simon Peter and the others “forsook all” to follow Jesus. B. Their “fishing hole” would eventually become the whole world. C. Nothing thrills our souls like Jesus.
